Deadly clashes erupted overnight as fighters attacked two besieged government-controlled villages in northwestern Syria, a monitor said on Sunday.
The villages of Fuaa and Kafraya represent a tiny pocket of government-held territory in Syria’s northwest Idlib province, which is otherwise almost entirely controlled by various militants and hardline rebels.

Three Malian soldiers and 13 “terrorists” were killed in fighting at an army camp in central Mali on Saturday, the defence ministry said.The troops “repelled a terrorist attack in the early morning,” in the central town of Boni,” the ministry said.
The army forces “killed 13 terrorists and recovered arms and munitions,” and three soldiers were killed while the attack was repelled, the statement added.

The self-styled Libyan National Army seized most of the eastern coastal city of Derna from extremist groups who have controlled it for years, a spokesperson said on Friday, amid fierce fighting since late April.
The LNA forces have captured “more than 75% of Derna and forced out terrorists from most of the city,” Ahmed al-Mesmari told The Associated Press.’

At least 130 people were killed and wounded Wednesday in a deadly explosion near a Shiite mosque in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a security source was quoted as saying.
“Two bombs went off near an ammunition cache placed in a Shiite mosque in the Shiite bastion of Sadr City in Baghdad, leaving 20 people killed so far,” the source told Alghad Press.

Ethiopia’s governing coalition has announced it will fully accept and implement the peace deal that ended its border war with Eritrea.
It says it will accept the outcome of a 2002 border commission ruling, which awarded disputed territories, including the town of Badme, to Eritrea.
