Thirteen Houthi rebels were killed Tuesday in clashes with government forces in central Yemen, according to the military information center.
The clashes broke out after government forces repelled a rebel attack on military positions in al-Malagim district in central al-Bayda province.

The U.S. military said on Monday it had killed 27 militants after launching an airstrike in Somalia against Al-Shabaab, an Islamist group allied with al-Qaeda, Garowe Online reports.
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) which oversees military operations on the continent said in a statement that the strike took place last Saturday, June 2 in an area, about 26 miles southwest of Bosaso, the commercial city of Somalia’s northern Puntland state.

The Israeli military struck Hamas militant sites in Gaza early Sunday in response to the resumption of rocket fire toward Israel, which threatened to unravel an informal cease-fire that had held since a flare-up of violence last week.
The military said it hit 15 Hamas targets, including military compounds, munition factories and naval forces. The strikes come after militants broke days of calm along the volatile frontier by firing projectiles toward Israeli communities.

Heavily armed al-Shabaab fighters have overrun military base near Bosaso town in Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland.
The fighters on Friday stormed into military base in Balikhadar town, Galgala highlands, clashing with Puntland forces for hours, according to police officer, who asked to be anonymous.

Heavy clashes occurred on Thursday between two South Sudanese army factions in Mayom county, leaving dozens dead and several others wounded, a resident said.
James Makuey a resident of the area has told Sudan Tribune that the fighting was between forces loyal to South Sudan army Gen. Buay Rolyang and a group allied to Mathew Puljang in Mayom.
