Eight people were killed on Monday during an attack attributed to Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in the restive eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, according to sources.
The attack targeted an army position in Kabasewa, 60km east of Beni in North Kivu province.

Fourteen Daesh terrorists and six Kurdish Peshmerga fighters have been killed in clashes in northern Iraq, according to Peshmerga sources.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, a Peshmerga officer holding the rank of first lieutenant said 14 Daesh terrorists and six Peshmerga fighters had been killed in clashes late Monday during a joint operation being conducted by Peshmerga and Iraqi federal forces.

The Army said on Monday it neutralised 22 suspected terrorists in Bama Local Government Area of Borno, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds after troops repelled an attack.
The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, who disclosed this in a statement, however, denied a report that the terrorists attacked, killed soldiers and carted away some military vehicles.

Twelve Myanmar Army troops and one Restoration Council of Shan State soldier have been killed in this week’s armed clashes in Mong Kung Township, according to separate reports from the organization and an aligned media outlet on Friday. An undisclosed number of RCSS troops have been injured, according to a spokesperson for the group.
Four days of fighting in Mong Kung have also forced hundreds of ethnic Shan to flee their villages, according to local sources.

Somali security forces shot dead three extremists wearing soldiers’ uniforms, foiling an attempted al-Shabab attack on the presidential palace that began with a car bomb exploding, police said Saturday.
The confrontation came a week after an attack on the nearby interior ministry compound in Mogadishu killed at least nine people, again raising questions about the state of security in the most sensitive areas of Somalia’s capital.
