Two Syrian rebel groups began withdrawing their heavy weapons Saturday from a northwestern area of the country where Russia and Turkey have agreed to set up a demilitarized zone, opposition activists said.
Rami Abdurrahman of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Free Idlib Army and Failaq al-Sham started removing artillery and mortar pieces from areas close to the town of Maaret al-Numan.

A rebel attack on an army post in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo left six people dead, civilian and military sources said on Friday, October 5.
The Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces is suspected of having carried out Thursday night’s attack in the city of Beni, which sits near the DRC border with Uganda.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group has announced the death of one of its leaders in Egypt’s restive Sinai Peninsula, where security forces also shot dead 15 militants in a separate encounter.
The terrorist group said in a recent message on Telegram that the Egyptian army killed Abu Hamza al-Maqdisi in an air raid. Maqdisi had been in charge of planning and training for the terrorist group in Sinai.

In view of constant shelling and provocations at one of the segments of the front line in Donetsk region and in order to improve tactical positions, the unit of one of the Ukrainian brigades was forced to “march a good bit forward” and gain ground, according to a Ukrainian volunteer Yuriy Mysyagin.
The military have already entrenched themselves at new positions, now “setting up new strongholds,” Mysyagin wrote on Facebook.

Zaidi cleric, Mohammad Abdulazem al-Houthi, mobilized on Monday his forces in Houthi-controlled areas following fierce clashes between his forces and others backed by Abdulmalek al-Houthi.
“Mohammad Abdulazeem mobilized his forces in Sanaa, Amran and Dhamar to protect their comrades who are currently present in Houthi-controlled areas in Saada,” Yemeni tribal sources told Asharq Al-Awsat on.
