Three Malian civilians have been killed and around 30 people wounded in a suicide attack in the country’s violence-hit north, officials said, as a diplomat said some of the injured were sub-contractors for the UN.
The attack took place late on Monday in the city of Gao when a 4×4 vehicle blew up in a residential area, the security ministry said.

At least 15 people have been killed in a new bout of fighting between Cameroon army troops and separatist rebels, the two sides said on Tuesday, in a rise in violence since President Paul Biya won a seventh term in power in October.
The conflict between Anglophone separatists, who want to create an independent state called Ambazonia, and government forces has killed more than 400 people in western Cameroon since last year and has emerged as Biya’s greatest security problem in nearly four decades of rule.

At least 37 local policemen were killed by the Taliban as fighting rage in Afghanistan’s Western Farah Province, local officials said on Monday.
Khost, the sole village controlled by the government in Khak-e Safid district, was attacked by Taliban militants while the fight was ongoing, Humaira Ayubi, a member of parliament from the province, told dpa.

Palestinian media reports at least 6 killed, more injured, during Israeli operation in Khan Younis; IDF confirms ‘exchange of fire broke out’, rockets fired at south.
Israeli special forces conducted a raid in the Gaza city of Khan Younis on Sunday night, apparently killing several suspected Hamas terrorists, including a senior commander in its military wing, and bringing the region back to the brink of war.

A Saudi-UAE-led military coalition and pro-government forces in Yemen have launched a “vast offensive” to capture the strategic port city of Hodeidah from Houthi rebels, according to the country’s internationally recognised government.
“A military operation has begun and the national army forces have advanced towards the north and the western sides of the city of Hodeidah, progressing from all front with the support of the Arab coalition,” the Aden-based government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said in a statement on Friday.
