Seven Niger soldiers were killed when their post was attacked by Boko Haram in the country’s southeast near Nigeria, the birthplace of the jihadist group, the government said Saturday.
The interior ministry said Friday’s raid in Chetima Wanou had led to the death of seven soldiers and injured six others while “on the enemy side (there were) several deaths including one corpse left on the spot and many injured”.

Extremists defending the very last pocket controlled by ISIS in eastern Syria are trapped in an area of half a square kilometer, a top commander said Saturday.
“We want to confirm that Baghouz is within firing range and is besieged,” Jia Furat, the overall commander of the operation led by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, told reporters.

A terror group with links to ISIS has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on a motorcade carrying a Nigerian state governor.
Borno State Gov. Kashim Shettima’s motorcade was traveling from the state capital of Maiduguri to a campaign rally in the village of Gamboru when it was ambushed Tuesday night. The Islamic State’s West Africa Province terror group has claimed responsibility, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.

At least 40 Indian paramilitary police have been killed in a bomb attack by militants on their convoy in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Police told the BBC that a car filled with explosives had rammed a bus carrying the troops to Srinagar.

Clashes between South Sudanese army and National Salvation Front (NAS) fighters resulted in the death of 13 civilians and 7 soldiers, said a statement released by the spokesperson of the rebel group on Tuesday
The security situation in the Central Equatoria has now deteriorated to the point that region returned to war as before the signing of the revitalized peace agreement. Repeated clashes have become the rule.
