Libya: Libyan National Army (LNA) takes base 12 km from Tripoli centre
The Libyan National Army (LNA), under the command of General Khalifa Haftar, announced Wednesday that it has taken up a position in the Ain Zara area, about 12 km from the centre of Tripoli.
In the battle for the Libyan capital, Haftar has arrayed his special forces, called ‘Saiqa’ (lightning bolt), an elite corps made up of paramilitary soldiers and commandos.
The group was responsible for the taking of Benghazi at the end of 2017 after a practically house-by-house operation over the course of three and a half years.
