Pakistan: Islamic State’s Khorasan Province (ISKP) claims responsibility for deadly suicide attack in Quetta
The Islamic State Saturday claimed responsibility for a suicide attack that killed 21 people and wounded more than 50 others in Quetta, the provincial capital of Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province.
A suicide bomber blew himself in the Hazarganj fruits and vegetable market in Quetta on Friday morning, in an attack believed to be targeting the minority Hazara Shia community.

Philippines: Philippine troops kill 12 Abu Sayyaf militants in clashes
The Philippine military says 12 Abu Sayyaf militants have been killed in clashes as army troops pressed an offensive in a southern province after the extremists were blamed for the deadly bombing of a Roman Catholic cathedral.
The military’s Western Mindanao Command says the 12 militants were killed in four separate clashes Thursday in mountainous Patikul town in Sulu province. The bodies of two of the slain militants were retrieved.

Niger: Boko Haram targets civilians in deadly attacks in south-east Niger
The United Nations refugee agency reports tens of thousands of refugees and displaced people in Niger’s Diffa region are suffering immense hardships as violent attacks by Boko Haram increase in frequency and intensity.
According to the U.N. refugee agency, last month 88 civilians in Niger’s border areas were killed by Boko Haram, the Nigeria-based Islamist militant group. The spike in violence, it says, has forced more than 18,000 people to flee their homes, many for the second or third time.
Sudan: Army takes power in coup d’etat arresting President Omar Al Bashir
In a night-time coup Sudanese military stormed the state TV and radio stations and surrounded the presidential palace on Thursday morning.
In a statement broadcast across Sudan, the defence minister announced the arrest of Sudan’s now former President Omar Al Bashir, and the establishment of a two-year military rule transition period.
