Somalia: Death toll jumps to 11 after twin blasts in Mogadishu claimed by al-Shabaab
Police in Somalia say the death toll from Saturday’s double explosions in Mogadishu has climbed to 11 while more than 20 others had been injured, Garowe Online reports.
General Bashir Abdi Mohamed, Somali police boss, told reporters during a press conference in the capital that both car bomb blasts targeted two police security check points near the parliament headquarters and airport.
The UN mission in Somalia condemned Saturday’s deadly attacks in Mogadishu, saying no political agenda can be served by acts of terrorism. Turkey has also slammed the twin bombings in the capital.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attacks which were the deadliest in this month.
