At least 12 people were wounded in clashes between Yemen’s coast guards and “separatist militias” backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), when the latter tried to land in the Yemeni Socotra Island in an attempt to take over the seaport, the Yemeni local authority in Socotra and officials said on Wednesday.
The clashes erupted on Tuesday afternoon following the arrival of a UAE-flagged vessel at the island’s main seaport.

Indian troops fought a gun battle with Kashmir rebels Tuesday after a car bomb attack and other clashes left four soldiers and three militants dead in 24 hours, military officials said.
A soldier and two suspected rebels were killed in the latest shootout in the Anantnag area of India-administered Kashmir, army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said in a statement.

At least 30 people were killed and 42 wounded following a suicide attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria’s northeastern state of Borno, a local emergency response team told Xinhua on Monday.
Three suicide bombers late Sunday detonated their improvised explosive devices (IEDs) among a group of football fans at a public viewing center and bar in Madarari community near Konduga area of the state.

Police in Somalia say the death toll from Saturday’s double explosions in Mogadishu has climbed to 11 while more than 20 others had been injured, Garowe Online reports.
General Bashir Abdi Mohamed, Somali police boss, told reporters during a press conference in the capital that both car bomb blasts targeted two police security check points near the parliament headquarters and airport.

Dozens of combatants, including 26 pro-government fighters, were killed on Saturday in clashes and air strikes that erupted in northwestern Syria, a UK-based activist group has said.
The latest escalation in fighting came as Russian-backed government forces tried to retake two villages seized by militant groups earlier this month, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
