India: 4 maoists gunned down by security forces in Bihar

At least four Maoists were gunned down in a fierce encounter with the security personnel in Bihar’s Aurangabad district on Thursday evening.

The gun-battle between security forces and Maoists, owing allegiance to the CPI (Maoist), began on Thursday afternoon in which more than 500 rounds of firing took place from both the sides.

Israel: Israel struck Syrian army bases in the country’s south

Israel struck Syrian army targets in near al-Harra, where Western intelligence sources previously said Iranian-backed militias are based, Syrian official news agency SANA reported Tuesday.

At least six people were injured in an Israeli rocket attack, a monitoring group reported on Wednesday.

South Sudan: Government forces and National Salvation Front (NAS) rebels clash near Juba capital

Efforts to achieve lasting peace in South Sudan were dealt a blow on Tuesday when fighting broke out between government forces and militants near the country’s capital, Juba.

Security was stepped up in Juba, according to an AFP correspondent, as the clashes broke out 50 miles (100 kilometres) away in Lobonok, the first such fighting since the signing of the peace deal in September.

Yemen: Yemeni government condemns Houthi killing of a tribal leader

Yemen’s internationally recognised government condemned on Tuesday the killing of a tribal leader by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.

Fighting between two tribal groups loyal to the rebels resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people in the northwestern Amran province on Sunday.

Libya: East-based army launches attacks on Libyan government forces in Tripoli

Libya’s eastern-based army on Monday said it carried out two attacks in the capital Tripoli against the forces of the UN-backed government.

The army’s operation chamber said the army attacked the operation chamber of the government forces in southern Tripoli last night and killed a number of government troops.
