The US-led coalition in Iraq has, for the first time, confirmed its participation alongside Iraqi Security Forces in its “Will of Victory” operation to defeat the remnants of Islamic State [ISIS], as well as offensives conducted by Kurdish forces in Northern Syria.
“CJTFOIR [Coalition Joint Task Force for Operation Intent Resolve] conducted a series of strikes against Daesh [Arabic acronym for ISIS] facilitators this week in Nineveh in support of the Iraqi Security Forces,” read a Monday tweet from Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), the moniker for the US-led coalition against ISIS.

The jihadist rebels launched a new attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate on Saturday morning.
Backed by Jaysh Al-Izza, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham began their attack on Saturday by storming the town of Jalmeh from their positions at nearby Jibeen.

Three Turkish soldiers were killed and another wounded Sunday in clashes with Kurdish militants belonging to the outlawed PKK group in southeast Turkey, the private news agency DHA reported.
The fighting occurred in Hakkari province, nestled up against the Iraqi and Iranian borders, DHA said, adding that three militants -which it termed terrorists- were also killed.

At least three Afghan security forces were killed Saturday when Taliban insurgents attacked a hotel, officials said, as violence continues across Afghanistan despite US-led efforts to end the war.
The assault took place in Qala-i-Naw, the capital of the western province of Badghis, when attackers struck a commercial area housing the hotel and several shops in the small city.

A car bomb went off on Friday outside a hotel in Somalia’s port city of Kismayu, a police officer said. The Islamist militant group al-Shabaab said it had carried out a suicide attack.
“A blast occurred in Hotel Asasey in the heart of Kismayu in Somalia, followed by gunfire. Local elders and lawmakers were having a meeting there. It is too early to know if there are any casualties,” Major Mohamed Abdi, a police officer, told Reuters.
