Iraq: Turkey neutralizes 61 Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorists in north Iraq

Turkey has “neutralized” at least 61 PKK terrorists during an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in northern Iraq, the Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

As part of the Operation Claw — which was launched on May 27 by the Turkish Armed Forces against the PKK terror group in the Hakurk region — a total of 110 mines and improvised explosives were annihilated so far, the ministry said in a statement.

Somalia: Somalia cuts diplomatic ties with Guinea over Somaliland

Somalia has cut diplomatic relations with Guinea after the head of the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland visited the West African country, the foreign ministry in Mogadishu has said.

Somaliland declared its independence in 1991 but is not recognised by the international community, which considers it an autonomous region of Somalia.

Philippines: 1 New People’s Army (NPA) rebel slain in Oriental Mindoro clashes

One alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was killed during a series of encounters with government forces in Victoria town in Oriental Mindoro province Wednesday and Thursday.

Capt. Patrick Jay Retumban, public affairs chief of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division based in Tanay, Rizal, said in a report that the first encounter between communist guerrillas and soldiers from the Army’s 76th Infantry Battalion, under Lt. Col. Mario Lito Retirva assisted by local policemen, happened in Barangay Loyal early Wednesday.

Libya: Dozens of migrants killed in air raid in Tripoli by warlord Haftar’s air force

Warlord Khalifa Haftar’s UAE and Egypt-backed air force bombed Tajoura Detention Center in east Tripoli Tuesday night killing at least 44 migrants and wounding more than 130 others.

The air raid came after threats by Haftar to intensify night airstrikes on Tripoli in retaliation for their defeat in the mountain city of Gharyan.

Saudi Arabia: Houthi rebels launch drone attack on Saudi airport injuring 9 people

A second attack in two months on an airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia has wounded nine people, according to a Saudi-led coalition statement.

Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone attack Tuesday on Abha International Airport, according to the Houthi-run Al-Masirah news agency. The Saudi-led coalition fighting the rebels confirmed the drone attack and said it believed Tehran was involved in the operation.
