Turkey: At least 3 Turkish soldiers killed in clashes with PKK in northern Iraq

At least three Turkish soldiers were killed and seven injured on Sunday during Operation Claw-3 in northern Iraq, Turkey’s National Defence Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said that the casualties occurred during clashes with PKK terrorists.

Israel: Israel strikes Syria, says it foiled Iranian drone attack

In a rare confirmation, Israel said it struck in Syria Saturday to thwart a drone attack by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ elite Quds Force. The Israeli army said the foiled attack entailed launching several drones at targets in northern Israel.

The military has deployed air defenses in northern Israel in anticipation of possible retaliatory rocket fire. Authorities have not issued any special safety instructions for residents in northern Israel.

Somaliland: Somaliland and Puntland in fresh battle over disputed area

Somaliland and Puntland are in new row following the attack on a convoy of top Somaliland government officials by suspected Puntland militia on Wednesday.

According to a statement from Somaliland government, suspected militia from Puntland attacked a convoy of Somaliland officials, including the Governor of Badhan, as it passed through the Hadaftimo District of the Sanaag Region.

Papua and West Papua form the western half of the island of New Guinea (the eastern half is the nation of Papua New Guinea).

The region was known as Irian Jaya until 2000, before the provinces were renamed in 2003 as Papua and West Papua.

Yemen: Fresh clashes between separatists and Government forces in south

UAE-backed separatist fighters have seized a number of military camps in Yemen’s southern Abyan province, as fresh clashes with forces loyal to the country’s internationally recognised government caused multiple deaths and injuries.

The two sides are nominal allies in a Saudi-UAE-led military coalition battling the Houthi rebel movement after the latter took over the capital, Sanaa, and most major cities in 2014.
