Pakistan: Pakistan reports deadly clashes with India in Kashmir

Pakistan says three of its soldiers were killed Thursday in clashes with India across the disputed Kashmir border, known as the Line of Control (LoC), amid increasing tensions between the two nations over the Himalayan region.

A Pakistani army spokesman claimed five Indian soldiers also were killed in retaliatory fire. Major-General Asif Ghafoor said skirmishes were ongoing intermittently.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab jihadists hit military base in Awdheegle with deaths on both sides

Militant Islamist group al-Shabaab struck a Somali government military base on Wednesday with car bombs and gunfire in a battle that both sides said caused multiple deaths to the other.

Witnesses said some local residents were also killed by stray crossfire during the mid-morning attack on the base in Awdheegle, 70 km (43 miles) southwest of the capital Mogadishu.

Nigeria: Scores of Boko Haram militants killed following Nigerian military airstrikes

Scores of Boko Haram militants were killed following series of airstrikes by the Nigerian military who targeted a major tactical base of the terror group in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, an air force spokesman said on Tuesday.

The air task force of the military, which carried out the raid, also decimated the major tactical base of Boko Haram at Izza, a location on the fringes of the Sambisa forest in Borno, said Ibikunle Daramola, the air force’s spokesman, in a statement reaching Xinhua in Abuja.

Libya: Mitiga airport and Sug Juma shelled by Haftar during Eid truce

The pro Tripoli fighting operations room claimed that the truce agreed with the pro Khalifa Haftar forces was broken on two occasions by the Khalifa Haftar forces on Sunday, the first day of Eid Al-Adha – feast of sacrifice.

The first claim was the indiscriminate shelling of a residential house in Sug Il Juma by Hafter’s forces that led to the injury of three.

Afghanistan: 15 Taliban militants surrender in the northern Badakhshan province

A total of 15 militants including a Taliban key commander have handed over their weapons to security forces in the northern Badakhshan province, provincial government spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazari said on Sunday.

“Taliban commander Mullah Ashor along with his 14 armed fighters have given up fighting and surrendered to security forces on Saturday,” Nazari told Xinhua.
