Iraqi forces backed by the Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition aircraft on Wednesday carried out an anti-Islamic State (IS) operation in the provinces of Anbar and Salahudin, killing 12 extremist IS militants, the Iraqi military said.
A joint force from al-Jazira Operations Command and paramilitary tribal fighters conducted an operation to hunt down IS militants in areas located in northern Anbar province and the neighboring province of Salahudin, a statement by the media office of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) said.

The death toll resulting from the latest violent protests in Indonesia’s West Papua region has risen to 32, as President Joko Widodo appealed against the spread of fake news that provoked the clashes.
Ahmad Kamal, police spokesman in Papua province, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that 28 demonstrators were now confirmed killed, and 66 others injured during the protest on Monday in the city of Wamena.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said early on Monday that air strikes killed five civilians from one family in the northwestern province of Omran, according to the group’s Al-Masirah TV.
The air strikes by the Saudi-led coalition targeted a mosque that the family went to at the time of the attack, the station said.

The Libyan National Army announced Saturday that its forces have made new advances on ground in the capital, Tripoli, following what it called a “violent attack against armed militias” loyal to Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA).
LNA spokesman Major General Ahmed al-Mesmari said forces, fighting for six months to liberate Tripoli, have launched a “fierce attack on the terrorist militias in Salah al-Din area to free it and clear it of terrorist and criminal gangs.”
