Tajikistan: Clashes in Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border leave 1 dead and 19 wounded

A shoot-out on a disputed section of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the Ferghana Valley has left at least one border guard dead and 19 other people wounded, officials from both countries say.

Both sides blamed each other for starting the September 16 shooting in Kyrgyzstan’s Leylek district and the Bobojon Ghafurov district of Tajikistan.

Egypt: Egyptian police kill terrorist group elements in north Sinai

Egyptian police forces killed a terrorist group during a shootout in the country’s restive North Sinai Province, Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced Sunday.

Three officers and one policeman were also injured in the exchange of fire, the ministry said in a statement.

Yemen: Yemeni officials say Houthi rebel shelling killed 13 civilians

Yemeni security officials say shelling by Houthi rebels has killed at least 13 civilians including women and children in the provinces of Hodeida and Taiz.

The officials said Saturday the attacks killed at least 11 people, including six from one family, south of the Red Sea city of Hodeida in the past 24 hours.

Somalia: Army kills 10 al-Shabaab militants in a military operation

More than 10 al-Shabaab extremists were killed and several captured alive in an operation conducted by Somali forces in the southern region of Lower Shabelle province, Garowe Online reports.

Somalia’s State Media reported that Somali army launched a raid on militants outside Marka following a tip-off from the residents saying the militants were planning an attack on the port city which is under SNA and AU troops’ control.

Nigeria: Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) jihadists kill 9 soldiers while 27 are still missing

At least nine Nigerian soldiers were killed and 27 are missing after IS-affiliated jihadists ambushed a military convoy in the country’s restive northeast, two military sources have told AFP.

Jihadist fighters assaulted the convoy with heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades as it was en route to the town of Gudumbali in Borno state on Monday, the sources said.
