Twelve members of an armed group were killed in clashes with United Nations peacekeepers and government troops in northeastern Central African Republic, the government said on Tuesday.
The fighting erupted on Sunday after the Popular Front for the Renaissance of Central Africa (FPRC) entered the flashpoint town of Birao from three directions before being repelled, government spokesperson Ange-Maxime Kazagui said in a statement.

Relentless bombing by the Syrian government and Russian forces has targeted towns, villages and two hospitals in northwest Syria, as Turkish officials in Moscow desperately seek a ceasefire.
Territory in the Idlib and Aleppo countrysides is falling fast to forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, which on Monday said they had captured dozens of towns as they continue to push ahead with an offensive.

A least 35 civilians have reportedly been killed and 40 homes torched in less than a week in Cameroon’s English-speaking Northwest region, following bloody clashes between government troops and separatists fighting for the creation of an independent English-speaking state called Ambazonia.
Both the rebels and the government blame each other for the gruesome murder of civilians, including children trapped in their burning homes.

At least 40 people, including nine soldiers, have been killed in a spate of attacks in central Mali, authorities said on Friday.
At least 31 civilians were killed in an attack overnight in Ogossagou, the government said, without saying who carried out the violence. Last March, 160 people died in the mostly Fulani village in a massacre blamed on Dogon militiamen.

Yemen’s Houthi rebel group said six of its commanders have been killed in recent battles with the government forces, according to the group-run Saba news agency.
According to the news agency, the funeral of the bodies of “Col. Abd al-Latif Saleh al-Ghafari, Col. Moeen Abdullah Mar’i, Col. Abd al-Badi` Abd al-Rab al-Houthi and Col. Ali Yahya al-Wajih” were held in Sanaa on Wednesday, while the funerals of Brig. Yahya Abdel-Jabbar Hassan Jahdan and Brig. Abdullah Muhammad Hanash took place on Tuesday.
