Burundi military reinforced by Rwandan rebels FDLR have reportedly involved in intense gun battle against Red Tabara rebel movement in neighbouring DR Congo.
According to local media reports in Burundi, the fighting has been sighted in Masango in the Uvira area, South Kivu Province.
Reports also indicate that the Gumino rebel group based in DR Congo has put its weight behind the Burundian forces to battle Red Tabara rebels.
