A total of 35 Boko Haram militants were killed during multiple-day clearance operations by Nigerian troops in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, the military said on Sunday.
In a statement made available to Xinhua, the military said that the clearance operations took place between May 11 and May 22 to deal deadly blows on the militants.

The Iraqi security forces announced on Monday that an Iraqi military plane was hit by terrorist forces in the Al-Rutbah Desert during an operation to destroy Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh).
The security forces said in a statement,that a force from their commando regiment, the 1st Division, managed to destroy several dens and seized weapons and explosives ready for booby-trapping the Al-Rutbah Desert near the Syrian border.

Libya’s internationally recognised government has made new gains on the outskirts of the capital, Tripoli, capturing three military bases from renegade military commander Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA).
In a statement on Saturday, military spokesman Mohamed Gnunu said the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) now controlled the Yarmouk, al-Sawarikh and Hamza camps south of the capital.

Greece has lodged a protest over Turkish troops’ occupation of a small patch of swampland along the land border between the two NATO member nations.
Nevertheless, dozens of Turkish soldiers and police remain planted there, defying demands that they retreat. The confrontation is the latest in escalating tension between the two age-old rivals.

Around 950 suspected militants have been killed in the region along with dozens of security personnel.
Egypt said Saturday that 21 jihadists were killed in clashes with security forces in the restive Sinai peninsula, where Islamic State group-affiliated militants have waged a long-running insurgency.
