Boko Haram fighters clashed with government forces on Sunday in Diffa, the largest city in southwestern Niger, in what the jihadists said was a successful attack on a military camp.
Conflicting versions of the outcome emerged on Tuesday, with the Islamists claiming to have overrun the site but local residents telling AFP that the assailants had been repelled.

At least ten members of an Iraqi militia group have been killed in an attack by Islamic State militants.
A statement released by the Shia-dominated Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) said the deaths came during “fierce clashes” with IS.

The National Salvation Front (NAS) prepares to conduct series of attacks against the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO) and South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and that it threatens the peace, according to a defense ministry internal memo.
The memo, which was sent to the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) claims the NAS has outlined its attach techniques against parties to the September 2018 revitalized peace deal.

North Korea fired multiple gunshots towards the South in the Demilitarised Zone dividing the peninsula on Sunday, prompting South Korean troops to fire back, Seoul’s military said.
The rare exchange of gunfire comes following the reappearance a day earlier of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after a near three-week absence from the public eye that triggered intense speculation about his health.

President Felix Tshisekedi has ordered his Burundian counterpart to immediately remove his soldiers on DRC territory within 48 hours. The ultimatum issued on Friday expires today, May 2.
Sources close to the Presidency in DR Congo confirmed that President Tshisekedi communicated to President Pierre Nkurunziza, but did not specify whether it was by telephone or other channels
