Somalia: Al-Shabaab attack kills at least 8 soldiers

At least eight Somali government soldiers were killed and several wounded on Wednesday when al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a military base in the southwestern Bay province.

Somali government spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Oronjo told Anadolu Agency over the phone that al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a Somali national army base in Daynuney.

Syria: 18 killed in clashes between opposition groups and pro-regime fighters in north west

Clashes between opposition groups and pro-Assad fighters in northwestern Syria on Monday thwarted regime’s advance and left 12 pro-regime men dead, a Britain-based war monitoring group said.

Another 17 pro-regime fighters were wounded while on the opposition-led side six fighters died, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Afghanistan: 13 civilians killed and 42 injured in Nangarhar attack

At least 13 civilians were killed and 42 more injured after a car bomb explosion outside the main prison in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

The car bombing happened shortly after 6:30pm on Sunday when gunmen entered the compound and opened intense fire, followed by heavy fighting, which enabled many prisoners to escape.

Saudi Arabia: Dozens of Saudi soldiers killed in clashes with Houthi rebels

Saudi forces suffered dozens of casualties amid clashes in the country’s southwest, according to news reports on Sunday by an outlet aligned with Yemeni Houthi rebels.

Clashes broke out with Houthi forces in the city of Najran, the Ansarullah news website reported.

Afghanistan: At least 22 people have died in border clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Afghanistan accused Pakistan on Friday of killing 15 civilians during clashes at a border crossing where crowds were jostling to cross for the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.

On Pakistan`s side, hospital officials reported seven deaths from the flare-up between the Asian neighbours who are U.S. allies but often trade accusations of backing militants.
