Russian warplanes targeted positions of the al-Qaida-linked rebel groups in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib on Tuesday, a war monitor reported.
The Russian war jets targeted training camps of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the umbrella group of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front, in the northern countryside of Idlib, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
At least nine alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered in different parts of Southern Tagalog, while a still unidentified “amazona” (female rebel) was killed in a clash with government forces Monday.
Army Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Cana, public information officer of the military’s Southern Luzon Command based in Camp Nakar, said in a press statement that five of the former rebels turned themselves in Kalayaan, Laguna, and General Nakar, Quezon.
More than 200 villagers fled their homes after fighting broke out between the Burma Army and forces belonging to the Northern Alliance of ethnic armed groups in northern Shan State’s Muse District on Friday.

Israeli warplanes fired missiles on suburbs of the northern city of Aleppo early Friday, Syrian state media said, amid increased airstrikes on Syria in recent weeks. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
On August 31, an attack targeted the southern suburbs of the capital Damascus killing two soldiers and wounding seven.
