The Somali National Army [SNA] recaptured a strategic town located about 60 KM West of Kismayo on Saturday, in yet another tremendous success against the Somalia-based militants, who have been wreaking havoc in the Horn of Africa nation for over a decade
Senior military officials told state media that the troops liberated Jana Abdalle town in Jubaland almost two years after it was taken by the militants. The troops are carrying out operations across the country in a bid to flash out the al-Shabaab militants.

A suicide bomber on Tuesday killed seven civilians in a village housing displaced people in Cameroon’s restive northern tip bordering Nigeria, where deadly attacks have been on the rise.
The police officer said Tuesday’s bombing followed a Boko Haram raid on a village, adding: “The people fled and a young man strapped with explosives chased them and blew himself up.”

An airstrike in eastern Syria reportedly killed on Thursday at least 27 Iran-backed terrorists fighting for the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Unidentified warplanes targeted the positions of Iran-backed foreign terrorists in the Albukamal region in Deir ez-Zor province near the Iraqi border, according to local sources.

Tensions along the border between China and India have flared up again, as both sides have accused the other of violating the disputed boundary and trying to seize territory across the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
On Monday, the Indian military said in a statement that Chinese troops had carried out “provocative military movements” in a contested part of the Ladakh region over the weekend, to which Indian troops responded by bolstering their own presence in Ladakh, sparking a fierce war of words that was defused by local commanders before it turned violent.

Militia attacks in DR Congo’s volatile east disrupted the start of school final exams Monday with hundreds of students fleeing violence and some girls raped by the attackers, officials said.
The school-leaving exams had already been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and began on Monday.
