The Chadian army said on Monday it had killed 300 rebels who waged a major incursion into the north of the country eight days ago, adding that it had lost five of its soldiers.
A heavily armed rebel group launched a raid from its rear base in Libya on April 11, the same day as Chad’s presidential election that is expected to see the incumbent Idriss Deby Itno poised to extend his 30-year rule.

Some 14 rebels and one Colombian soldier have been killed in combat between guerrillas and the Andean country’s military, army sources said on Saturday.
Fourteen members of the Carlos Patino front - founded by former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels who reject a 2016 peace deal - were killed in the confrontations in Argelia, Cauca province, two military sources told Reuters.

Eritrea has admitted its troops are involved in the war in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region but vowed to pull them out amid mounting international pressure.
The country’s first acknowledgement of its role in the fighting came in a letter from its UN ambassador to the Security Council, which was posted online by the Eritrea’s information minister on Friday night.

The Myanmar military has reportedly suffered heavy casualties following attacks launched by the ethnic armed group the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) on a military base and convoy in Kachin State on Thursday.
On the morning of April 15 the KIA attacked a Tatmadaw (Myanmar military) base in the area of Nam Byu in Tanai Township. The base had been captured by the Tatmadaw from the KIA in 2018. Immediately after the attack, two military fighter jets launched airstrikes in the area.

Puntland state has warned against ongoing security crisis along the border with Somaliland, which has often caused rifts between Garowe and Hargeisa, with both parties claiming territories in Sanaag and Sool, which are located in the far north.
For the past few months, heavy fighting has been recorded in Shidan town along the border where two clans have been fighting against each other the territorial dispute, leading to an adverse humanitarian crisis, which has affected thousands.
