Takfiri Daesh militants have carried out bomb attacks on two oil wells at an oil field close to Iraq’s northern city of Kirkuk, causing fires in the area.
Oil officials and security sources told Reuters on Wednesday that the attacks had not affected production at the Bai Hassan oil field, adding that the fires near the oil wells had been quickly controlled without causing significant damage or disrupting operations.

A state of siege proclaimed in the Ituri and North Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will come into effect on Thursday for a 30-day period, President Felix Tshisekedi has announced.
In an address to the nation late Monday, Tshisekedi called on the population to adopt a responsible attitude and the government to ensure the necessary logistics for the armed forces which will be deployed during the siege period.

Fighting between Afghan government forces and the Taliban has left more than 100 insurgents dead in the past 24 hours, the defence ministry said Sunday as it took control of a US military base in a restive province.
The US military handed over Camp Antonik in the southern Helmand province to Afghan forces, a day after it formally began withdrawing its remaining troops from the country.

Suspected Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) rebels have killed 15 civilians in the Horo-Gudru Wollega zone of Oromia regional state, an Ethiopian official said on Saturday.
“Fifteen passengers travelling from Bure town in Amhara regional state west to Nekemte city in Oromia regional state were killed by suspected OLA rebels on Friday evening,” said Berhanu Yebase, chief police Officer, Horo-Guduru Wollega zone of the state.

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed what they called a complete ceasefire on Saturday after reports of fresh shooting and troop build-ups in the aftermath of border clashes earlier this week that killed 49 people.
The heads of the countries’ state security bodies announced the agreement in a joint briefing in Kyrgyzstan hours after Kyrgyzstan’s border guard service said Tajik troops opened fire on Kyrgyz vehicles on their side of the border.
