Afghanistan: Bloodbath in Kabul, the death toll rises to 170
The Air Force flight has restarted from Kabul which will bring back to Italy, in addition to the Afghan civilians, also the consul Tommaso Claudi, the ambassador Pontecorvo and the Carabinieri of Tuscania who were still in place. Meanwhile, the death toll continues to grow, according to several sources now above i 100: al-Jazeera counts 110, the CBS, citing the Afghan Ministry of Health, even speaks of 170 dead.
These are feverish hours in Kabul in which the announcements of the various governments on the completion of the evacuations from Afghanistan follow one another: after Italy, one after the other, there are several countries that they stated that they had concluded the operations with the last flights, with Afghan citizens, officials and civilians on board, who have left the country which has fallen into the hands of the Taliban.
Others have instead announced that the plan to abandon the country fallen into the hands of the Taliban, and under attack by ISIS, will soon end. For all remains the watershed of 31 August indicated by President Joe Biden who, yesterday, confirmed that the American evacuations will continue as planned even after the explosions at the capital’s airport.
