Afghanistan: Clashes between Taliban and resistance forces continue for second day in Panshir
Clashes between the Taliban and local resistance forces led by Ahmad Massoud in Afghanistan’s Panshir Valley continued for the second day on Wednesday, Afghan news channel TOLO News reported.
The Taliban confirmed that fighting has been ongoing for two days now. They claimed that the resistance forces launched the attack and that both sides have suffered casualties in the clashes.
“Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate were attacked in Panjshir. The Mujahideen reacted to the attack and as a result, the other side has suffered heavy casualties,” said Anaamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission.
Earlier in the day, Taliban leader Amir Khan Muttaqi said that talks between the two sides had failed so far. He said, however, that the Taliban still want to resolve the issue peacefully.
