In a significant breakthrough for security forces, three Maoists were gunned down in an encounter in the dense forests of Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district today. The operation was carried out as part of an ongoing anti-Naxal campaign in the region, where Maoist activities have been a persistent challenge for law enforcement agencies.
According to reports, a joint team comprising personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched the operation based on intelligence inputs regarding Maoist movement along the Bijapur-Dantewada border. As the security forces advanced towards the identified location, they were met with heavy gunfire from the Maoists, prompting them to retaliate. The gun battle lasted for several hours before the security forces gained control of the area.
After the exchange of fire subsided, a search operation was conducted at the encounter site, leading to the recovery of the bodies of three slain Maoists. Security personnel also seized a significant cache of weapons, including assault rifles, country-made explosives, and other incriminating materials. Officials believe that these items indicate the presence of a larger Maoist network operating in the region.
