South Sudan’s government has reached a peace deal in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, with the break-away faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/ Army-In-Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) under General Simon Gatwech Dual.
The deal negotiated by the Sudan Transitional Government on Sunday includes recommitting to the cessation of hostilities signed on August 8, 2018, in Khartoum that paved way for the eventual inking of the revitalised peace deal.

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the party that controls most of the northern Ethiopia region of Tigray, on Sunday accused Eritrea of attacking its troops.

A car bomb exploded on a road leading to the airport in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday, killing at least eight people, the head of the city’s ambulance services said.
Mogadishu resident Mohamed Osman said the shock of the blast hit the walls and roof of a mosque he was praying in nearby.

Twelve civilians and 38 rebels have died in four days of fighting in northeast DR Congo, where the armed forces are carrying out a crackdown on militias.
The latest clashes in the violence-wracked Democratic Republic of Congo erupted between militia groups and the military in Ituri and North Kivu provinces.

Six soldiers and at least 22 jihadists have died in fighting in the Lake Chad region, a joint force deployed to the area said on Friday.
The force described the operation, conducted by air-supported troops from Niger and Nigeria, as a “success” and said it had benefitted from “decisive support by American partners.”
