An alliance formed by nine Ethiopian rebel groups in Washington will further contribute to the destabilisation of Ethiopia, which has been facing an insurgency by Tigray rebels, Ambassador to the United States Fitsum Arega told Sputnik.
“What they signed is to continue the destabilisation by the TPLF. So it’s just a continuation of the destabilisation, and it has no meaning at all,” Arega said.

Ethiopian forces and Tigrayan rebels fought a pitched battle for control of Kombolcha on Monday, terrified residents reported, after the rebels claimed to have taken over their second town in two days.
Reports of rebels capturing Kombolcha came a day after they claimed control of Dessie and if confirmed, it would mark a major advance by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in the nearly year-long war.

Sudan’s military dissolved its power-sharing government and declared a state of emergency Monday, catapulting the country into its biggest political crisis in its two-year-old transition.
The coup comes after months of rising tensions in the country, where military and civilian groups have shared power in a shaky transitional coalition, called the Sovereign Council, since former president Omar al-Bashir was ousted from power in 2019.

At least 20 people were killed and more than 40 wounded on Saturday when a moderate Islamist group clashed with Somali government troops over control of a town in central Somalia, according to witnesses and regional officials.
The clashes started at dawn Saturday morning when government troops, who have been amassing on the outskirts of Guri-El, a central Somali town some 400 kilometers north of the capital, Mogadishu, attacked bases held by Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a (ASWJ) rebels.

One soldier and four terrorists were killed in the attack on an army post in Acharane (Timbuktu region) in northern Mali, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) said Sunday on their official website.
The Malian army also deplored three wounded in its ranks and recovered from the assailants “several individual and collective weapons”.
