Cameroon: Cameroon deploys troops to fight Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF) separatists

Cameroon this week deployed an additional 300 troops to Bui, a northwestern administrative unit that the military says has become a stronghold for separatists. The troops are conducting house-to-house searches for weapons and destroying improvised explosive devices and rebel camps. But Civilians accuse both sides of abuses and rights violations.

Cameroon’s military says Bui, an administrative unit in the English speaking North West Region, is becoming an epicenter of separatist atrocities. About 35 improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, were destroyed by the military within the past two weeks.

Somalia: Attack kills 10 people at Mogadishu army training camp

A suicide bomber has killed at least 10 people at an army training camp in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

Many of the injured have been taken to hospital, a witness told the BBC.

France: French army kills Mali jihadist linked to 2 journalist murders

French soldiers have killed a Malian jihadist suspected of being responsible for the kidnapping and deaths of two French journalists in 2013, Defence Minister Florence Parly said Friday.

Parly said French forces in the Sahel region killed “four terrorists” during an operation in northern Mali on June 5, including Bayes Ag Bakabo, the prime suspect in the deaths of RFI radio reporters Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon.

South Darfur: 36 killed and dozens wounded in clashes between Taisha and Fallata tribes

At least 36 people have been killed and dozens wounded after clashes between Arab and non-Arab tribes in South Darfur over the weekend.

The fighting broke out on Saturday between the Arab Taisha and ethnic African Fallata tribes in the remote Um Dafuq area of South Darfur, witnesses said.

Nigeria: Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau killed himself, says Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP)

Abubakar Shekau, the head of the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram, had killed himself, rival Islamist militants said in an audiotape.

According to recordings received by news agencies from Boko Haram on Sunday, the group’s leader Abubakar Shekau killed himself in a confrontation against rival jihadist fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), two weeks after reports emerged that he had died.
