Sudan: Ethiopia provides military support to People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-al-Hilu) rebels led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu in Blue Nile state

The Ethiopian government has recently supplied weapons and ammunition to a Sudanese rebel group to attack a border town in the Blue Nile State, said the official news agency SUNA on Sunday.

The attacks by the Ethiopian army-backed militiamen on the border area and the counter-attacks by the Sudanese forces undermined the good entente between the two countries when Addis Abbas in December 2020 claimed the ownership of al-Fashaga which lies within Sudan’s international boundaries.

Somalia: At least 20 people killed by suicide car bomb near restaurant in Mogadishu

At least 20 people were killed and 30 wounded by a suicide car bomb just outside a restaurant near the port in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu late on Friday, an emergency services official said.

The blast sent plumes of smoke into the sky and triggered gunfire, witnesses and state-owned media reported.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: Suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels kill at least 10 civilians in east of the country

Fighters believed to be from the notorious Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have killed at least 10 civilians in two overnight attacks in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the army said on Sunday.

At least eight people were decapitated in the village of Boyo in the northeast Ituri province, while two others were shot dead in Kainama village by suspected ADF fighters, army spokesman Lieutenant Jules Ngongo said.

Nigeria: Nigerian official says 279 schoolgirls released 4 days after mass-abduction

Hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls abducted last week from a boarding school in the northwestern Zamfara state have been released, the state’s governor said Tuesday. Zamfara state governor Bello Matawalle announced that 279 girls were freed.

Gunmen abducted the girls from the Government Girls Junior Secondary School in Jangebe town on Friday, in the latest in a series of mass kidnappings of students in the West African nation.

Nigeria: Hundreds of schoolgirls abducted in Jangebe town as gunmen attack nearby military site

Some 317 students were taken, less than two weeks after 42 people, including 27 students, were abducted in a similar incident.

More than 300 girls have been abducted from a boarding school in northern Nigeria in the latest in a series of student kidnappings in the country.
