Leaders of three main armed rebel groups occupying large areas of the Central African Republic announced a coalition ahead of next week’s elections, while the government accused former President Francois Bozize of an “attempted coup”.
The move to form a coalition, announced on Saturday, could further increase tensions already on the rise in the troubled country ahead of presidential and legislative votes on December 27, where the opposition fears massive electoral fraud.

More troops from the Somali National Army [SNA] have been deployed to the Gedo region, further causing anxiety among residents of the two countries, whose relationship has been fluid for several months now over political differences.
Tensions continued to rise in the border region according to multiple residents when the troops selected from among Gorgor unit arrived in Dolow near the Kenyan border amid an escalating diplomatic spat between Kenya and Somalia.

In yet another attack on Nigeria, a group of jihadist gunmen attacked a military convoy and killed nearly five soldiers, military sources reported on Sunday.
Terrorism-hit Nigeria saw two different attacks. Almost 35 civilians were kidnapped and one woman was killed in the second attack which took place in the northeast Borno state.

Around 400 students are missing after gunmen attacked a school in Nigeria with AK-47 assault rifles.
The attack on the Government Science Secondary School happened at about 9.40pm on Friday in Kankara, in the country’s northwestern Katsina state, police have confirmed.

Ten Nigerian troops were killed and one was taken hostage in clashes with IS-linked jihadists in northeast Nigerian Borno state, according to two security sources.
Clashes erupted on Monday when a team of soldiers stormed a camp of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Alagarno village in Damboa district.
