Sudan: Infighting between Sudan Liberation Movement/Army - Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM/A-AW) factions displaces over 27,000 people in Darfur

Internal infighting between factions of the holdout Sudan Liberation Movement/Army - of Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM/A-AW) over the control of gold mines and attacks against the government forces have displaced more than 27,000 people.

On 1 December, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres submitted a report to the Security Council on the situation in Sudan ahead of a briefing on the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) and the AU/UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) on 8 December.

Ethiopia: Fighting persist Tigray People’s Liberation Front rebels say

Fighting between Ethiopian government troops and forces loyal to the rebel northern state of Tigray is continuing despite the fall of the regional capital, Mekelle, the dissidents’ top leader said.

Clashes are ongoing in two locations near Mekelle and two others 38 miles north of the city, Debretsion Gebremichael, the leader of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, which previously controlled the state, said in a text message Friday.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab attack leaves dozens dead in central Somalia

A clash between al-Shabaab militants, and Somali soldiers backed by civilians left dozens dead this week, the Ministry of Information said Tuesday.

The ministry told Voice of America that militants attacked a military base in the central town of Ba’adweyene on Monday morning, killing four soldiers and 11 civilians who took part in the battle.

Nigeria: Boko Haram militants kill dozens of people in attack on a farm

Militants killed at least 40 farm workers in rice fields near the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri on Saturday, news agencies and Nigerian media reported.

The attack, which injured six other people, took place in the village of Koshobe in Nigeria’s restive Borno state. A local anti-jihadist militia told news agency AFP that the fighters tied up the farm workers and slit their throats.

Ethiopia: Mekelle, Tigray capital, under control of Ethiopian forces, says Prime Minister after intense bombardment

Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) have taken control of Mekelle, the capital of the country’s Tigray region, according to a tweet from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The city was under fierce bombardment earlier on Saturday, a humanitarian source on the ground and eyewitnesses who have fled the city told CNN.
