At least eight Somali government soldiers were killed and several wounded on Wednesday when al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a military base in the southwestern Bay province.
Somali government spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Oronjo told Anadolu Agency over the phone that al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a Somali national army base in Daynuney.

Turkey has sent hundreds of newly recruited mercenaries to Sirte in Libya to fight alongside the forces of the Government of National Accord (GNA) against General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
Turkey sent 400 mercenaries to Libya last week, while about 250 others returned to Syria, bringing the total number of Syrian mercenaries sent to Libya to 16,500, the director of the Syrian Observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, said.

At least 37 bodies have been found in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo following armed clashes, a conflict monitor group announced on Friday.
The bodies were found in the city of Pinga and its surroundings in the territory of Walikale, North Kivu province following clashes that occurred between two factions of the Nduma Defense of Congo (NDC-R).

In a move likely to worsen tensions in North Africa, Egypt’s parliament on Monday approved a proposal authorizing military intervention in neighboring Libya, according to state media.
In a secret vote chaired by Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, parliament authorized Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to “take all necessary measures to protect the country’s national security,” Al Gomhuria daily reported.

Fighting between Nigerian troops and an armed group in the country’s northwest left at least 20 people dead, the military said.
Fatalities in the confrontation on Saturday in the Jibia district of Katsina state included three soldiers and 17 others described as cattle rustlers and kidnappers by Benard Onyeuko, the defense headquarters spokesman, in an emailed statement.
