Sudan’s army has quelled a rebellion by former elite troops loyal to ousted leader Omar al-Bashir.
Shooting broke out on Tuesday in the capital Khartoum and the city’s airport was briefly closed amid the clashes.

At least 89 soldiers have died in a jihadist attack in the Niger army base on Thursday, 9th January. The four security sources who recently reported to Reuters have said that the 89 fallen heroes were buried on Saturday in the capital, Niamey. However, one of the sources said the actual death toll could be higher because a number of soldiers were immediately buried on Thursday in Chinagodrar, the region where the attack was launched.

At least 30 Congolese soldiers were killed and 70 others seriously wounded last week during fierce fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo with Ugandan rebel group the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), the army said Sunday.
“The fighting took place Thursday in North Kivu province, where the army captured the ADF’s headquarters during the battle at Madina [in the Beni region],” local media reported, quoting Major Mak Hazukay, the spokesman for the operation.

Libyan eastern forces loyal to commander Khalifa Haftar announced on Saturday a ceasefire in the western region, which includes the capital Tripoli, starting 00:01 a.m. on Sunday and the internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) agreed to the truce.
Since April, Libyan National Army forces loyal to Haftar have been waging a campaign to take Tripoli, where they are battling forces aligned with the GNA.

At least five al-Shabaab terrorists were killed Friday and others wounded after Jubaland Security Forces raided a base in Lower Juba region located in southern Somalia, according to a government spokesman. al-Qaeda linked
Jubbaland State Ministry of Security spokesman Abdinur Ibrahim Hussein said “the operation at Ufow village in Lower Juba region was completed as planned.”
