Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar has ordered his forces to begin advancing toward Tripoli and said gunmen in the city would be provided with safety in exchange for laying down their arms.
“The Libyan National Army is inevitably victorious in the Battle of Tripoli. We call on the units that are advancing toward Tripoli to abide by the rules of engagement. We call on the militants who are fighting our army to remain in their homes and they will be safe,” Haftar said in a televised address late on Thursday.

Authorities in Cameroon say Boko Haram terrorists have been launching daily attacks on villages along the Nigeria border, killing at least 30 people and injuring scores in the past few months.
Cattle rancher Lamsi Guidjo, 55 years old and speaking through an interpreter, asked for temporary housing at the central Mosque in the town of Mora, on Cameroon’s northern border with Nigeria.

Earlier, the country’s defence minister said that three soldiers and 14 attackers were killed in an assault on a military post on Monday.
At least 70 soldiers were killed in the attack on a military camp in Niger in the western Tillaberi region near the Mali border, AFP has reported, citing security sources.

Al-Shabaab militants attacked an upscale Mogadishu hotel on Tuesday, causing an unknown number of casualties.
Somali police and security forces have cordoned off the Hotel SYL as they attempt to flush out the attackers.

Libya’s UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) said Sunday that forces loyal to military commander Khalifa Haftar were prevented from entering the capital.
GNA military spokesman Mohammed Kanunu said the multinational forces had planned to enter Tripoli on Friday but were caught in a narrow field in the countryside and neutralized before attacking the city.
