Peru: Two Shining Path terrorists captured in the La Convencion province

Two members of terrorist organization “Shining Path”, among them Alexander Alarcon Soto (Comrade Renan) have been captured, Peru’s Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi announced on Sunday night.

‘Renan’, arrested in the La Convencion province (Peru’s Southern Cusco region), was considered one of the organization’s high-level commanders based in the Valley formed by the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

Colombia: FARC leader Ramón Ruiz killed in Colombian Air Force bombing

A commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, also known as FARC, was killed in a bombing raid near the town of Riosucio on Monday.

Alfredo Alarcon Machado, better known as Ramón Ruiz, who led the 18th division of the FARC in northwest Colombia, was killed along with four other rebel members. The Colombian Air Force bombed a rebel position in the Choco province.

Colombia: At least 18 FARC rebels killed in army airstrikes

At least 18 FARC rebels were killed in a government airstrike in Colombia, a media report said.

Another two guerillas died in the bombing Thursday in the area of Guapi in the southwest department of Cuaca, El Tiempo newspaper reported.

Colombia: 10 soldiers killed in southwest Colombia FARC attack

Rebel group FARC reportedly killed 10 soldiers in the southwest of Colombia on Wednesday. Local media said the deadly combat followed a rebel attack, which would be a violent breach of a unilateral ceasefire called by the guerrillas in December.

The combat took place around midnight in Buenos Aires, a municipality in the troubled southwestern Cauca state and only a few miles south of Colombia’s third largest city, Cali.

Colombia: Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) announce indefinite unilateral ceasefire, but under conditions

Colombia’s largest rebel group, the FARC, on Wednesday declared an indefinite ceasefire, an unprecedented concession to public pressure and opponents to ongoing peace talks with the country’s government.

FARC peace delegation leader “Ivan Marquez” announced the ceasefire from Cuba, where a rebel delegation have been meeting with government delegates since November 2012 to negotiate their way out of 50 years of bloody armed conflict.
