Afghanistan: Clashes between Taliban and resistance forces continue for second day in Panshir

Clashes between the Taliban and local resistance forces led by Ahmad Massoud in Afghanistan’s Panshir Valley continued for the second day on Wednesday, Afghan news channel TOLO News reported.

The Taliban confirmed that fighting has been ongoing for two days now. They claimed that the resistance forces launched the attack and that both sides have suffered casualties in the clashes.

Afghanistan: With last plane out of Kabul, America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan is over

The final U.S. troops in Afghanistan flew out of Kabul Monday at 3:29 p.m. EDT, ending a costly 20-year occupation that started after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and leaving a war-torn country now controlled by the Taliban.

The retreat, announced by the Pentagon, came one minute before Aug. 31 Kabul time, keeping the U.S. in the country right up until a deadline set by President Joe Biden’s administration.

Burma-Myanmar: Military junta troops die in clashes with ethnic armed groups and civilian resistance fighters

Myanmar’s regime sustained casualties, allegedly including a battalion commander, during fighting with ethnic armed groups and civilian resistance fighters in three states over the weekend.

At least five junta soldiers reportedly died during clashes with joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Kokang’s Myanmar National Democratic Army (MNDAA) near Muse in northern Shan State on Saturday.

Afghanistan: Bloodbath in Kabul, the death toll rises to 170

The Air Force flight has restarted from Kabul which will bring back to Italy, in addition to the Afghan civilians, also the consul Tommaso Claudi, the ambassador Pontecorvo and the Carabinieri of Tuscania who were still in place. Meanwhile, the death toll continues to grow, according to several sources now above i 100: al-Jazeera counts 110, the CBS, citing the Afghan Ministry of Health, even speaks of 170 dead.

Afghanistan: Islamic State claims responsibility for Kabul airport blasts

The claim of responsibility from the Islamic State for the devastating suicide bombing at Kabul airport came as little surprise to analysts. The organisation’s affiliate in Afghanistan known as Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), had been pointed to as the prime suspect immediately after the blast.

The IS official Amaq news agency said on its Telegram channel that a member called Abdul Rahman al-Logari carried out “the martyrdom operation near Kabul Airport”. The name suggests the killer of at least 12 US servicemen and more than 60 civilians was Afghan.
