Nagorno-Karabakh: Azerbaijani army takes over last Karabakh district handed over by Armenia

Armenia agreed to hand over three districts around Karabakh – Aghdam, Lachin and Kalbajar – as part of the Russia-brokered deal in early November that stopped the fighting in the Karabakh region.

Azerbaijani forces have entered the Lachin district, the last of three handed back by Armenia as part of a deal that ended weeks of fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Afghanistan: Dozens killed in two suicide bombings in Ghazni and Zabul

At least 30 people were killed in a car bomb attack in Afghanistan’s central province of Ghazni on Sunday.

Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry told Turkey’s Anadolu Agency that the death toll included civilians and soldiers, adding that nine soldiers were killed and seven more were injured. The Ghazni public health department reported a higher total to CNN, saying 40 people were killed and 24 were injured.

Indonesia: Mujahidin Indonesia Timur (MIT) terrorist group kills 4 people and burns houses in Sulawesi

An Islamic State-linked militant group in central Indonesia has killed four villagers, one of whom was beheaded, and set seven houses on fire, a police officer said Saturday.

National Police spokesman Awi Setiyono said the incident occurred Friday in the village of Lemban Tongoa in Central Sulawesi Province. The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.

Afghanistan: ISIS claims responsibility for attack in Kabul

About 23 mortar shells slammed into different parts of the Afghan capital on Saturday, killing at least eight people and wounding 31 others, an official said.

The shells were fired from two cars, Interior Ministry spokesperson Tariq Arian said. No one took immediate responsibility for the early morning attack that also targeted the posh Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul, which houses diplomatic missions.

Afghanistan: Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri may have died in Afghanistan, according to a report

Ayman al-Zawahiri, the chief of terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, has died in Afghanistan, according to a report. However, Al-Qaeda is yet to confirm the purported death of al-Zawahiri. According to a report by Arab News, al-Zawahiri reportedly died of natural causes.

Arab News reported that Zawahiri died in Ghazni due to asthma. He had had last appeared in a video message on the anniversary of 9/11 attacks in the US.
