Burma-Myanmar: First months of 2020 see dozens of clashes between Burmese army and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)

There have been at least 59 clashes between the Burma Army and the Karen National Liberation Army—the armed wing of the Karen National Union (KNU)—in the KNU’s fifth brigade territory during the first three months of 2020, Karen sources reported.

According to a statement released by the KNU on March 31, the Burma Army and the KNU’s Brigade 5 clashed dozens of times in Mutraw District—referred to as Hpapun in Burmese—with both sides suffering casualties.

Afghanistan: Afghan police has killed 6 Taliban in Kandahar province

Afghanistan: 10 insurgents and 5 policemen killed in clashes in two provinces

Authorities of Afghanistan announced on Thursday that clashes that took place in two provinces of Afghanistan have resulted in the death of five police officials and 10 Taliban insurgents on Wednesday night.

Chairman of the provincial council of Kunduz province of Afghanistan, Mohammad Yousuf Ayoubi, said that an attack that was launched by Talbian militants on a security checkpoint in the province has resulted in the death of five police officials and left three injured and six missing.

Mozambique: Terrorist group Daesh claims responsibility for attacks in Mozambique and Afghanistan

The terrorist group Daesh has claimed responsibility for an attack in northern Mozambique close to the site of gas projects worth $60 billion.

On Monday, militants attacked the town of Mocimboa da Praia having occupied some locations, including an army barracks, before being expelled by security forces yesterday.

Afghanistan: Taliban and Afghan forces clash in Balkh province

At least two Afghan security forces and dozens of Taliban fighters were killed in deadly clashes in the northern Balkh province, an official confirmed on Wednesday.

Ajmal Fayez, a spokesman for police headquarters in Balkh, told Anadolu Agency the incident late Tuesday in the province’s Chahar Bolak district also resulted in closure of the main Balk-Jawzjan highway. He said two security forces personnel were killed in an insurgent attack on a checkpoint.
