Philippines: 2 New People’s Army (NPA) leftist rebels killed in clashes with security forces in Agusan del Sur

Two leftist rebels have been killed in clashes between government security forces and New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Agusan del Sur province in the southern Philippines, the Philippine military said on Monday.

The military in a report said that Philippine security forces and the rebels clashed on Sunday in a village in Loreto town, forcing the evacuation of 220 families.

Burma-Myanmar: 3 rebel groups halt offensive pending further peace talks

Three ethnic armed groups who have been fighting in Myanmar’s northeast—the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), Arakan Army and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army—said they would cease their offensives in northern Shan State but would continue to defend themselves, according to a Chinese-language statement released on Sept. 2.

Afghanistan: Explosion claimed by taliban in Kabul kills 16 people, injures 119 others, mostly civilians

The militants detonated a large Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device in Kabul city earlier tonight.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the explosion took place at around 9:45 pm local time close to Green Village.

Afghanistan: 9 people killed in north Afghan Pul-e-Khumri city clashes

At least nine people were killed and 27 others wounded as security forces repulsed attacks by Taliban militants in Pul-e-Khumri city, capital of northern Baghlan province, on Sunday, the Afghan Interior Ministry said.

The clashes erupted after Taliban militants carried out attacks before dawn on positions of the security forces in Hussain Khil and Zaman Khil localities of Pul-e-Khumri.

Burma-Myanmar: Clashes between army and ethnic armed groups in Shan State force thousands of people from their homes

An army helicopter buzzes overhead and ambulances travel up wet empty roads in Myanmar’s northeast, ferrying aid to thousands of residents displaced by fresh clashes between ethnic armed groups and the military.

Burnt-out cars and bullet casings lie along the road to Shan State’s Kutkai: a town ringed by mountains, poppy fields, and a patchwork of ethnic armed groups fighting for more autonomy and control over land and resources.
