Pakistan: Afghan-Pakistani border crossing closed after clashes

A major border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan remained closed on October 15 following clashes between the two countries’ security forces, leaving hundreds of people and vehicles stranded on both sides.

The Chamman-Spin Boldak border crossing was shut on October 14 after an exchange of fire between Pakistani and Afghan forces that lasted for several hours, officials in both countries said.

Farah provincial council said Sunday that a group of Taliban insurgents attacked several security check posts in the province.

Dadulllah Qani provincial council member said that on Saturday night Taliban insurgents attacked seven army check posts in Pusht Rod district.

Afghanistan: 25 Taliban and 10 policemen killed in clashes in Wardak province

At least 10 policemen were killed in clashes with Taliban fighters in the central Afghan province of Wardak, officials said on Sunday, amid fighting to wrest control of arterial highways a day after Taliban fighters blew up bridges.

The Taliban set fire to a government building in Wardak’s Sayeed Abad district and killed the district police chief along with nine other policemen on Saturday night, a senior police official said.

Burma-Myanmar: Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Tatmadaw engaged in 2 days of clashes near Muse

Fighting broke out between the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Myanmar Army (or Tatmadaw) in Muse and Kukai townships in northern Shan State over the weekend, displacing around 200 people, according to local sources.

The fighting erupted after Tatmadaw troops tried to apprehend TNLA soldiers who were reportedly demanding money from drivers on the Muse-Lashio highway.

Burma-Myanmar: United Wa State Army (UWSA) rebels attacked churches in Shan state, detained pastors and shaved their heads before releasing them

Ethnic Wa rebels shut down churches, destroyed buildings, and temporarily detained several pastor in eastern Burma (Myanmar), shaving their heads before releasing them.

Persecution watchdog Morning Star News reports that earlier this month, soldiers of Myanmar’s largest ethnic rebel group, the United Wa State Army (UWSA), attacked the churches in the rebel’s autonomous region in Shan state.
