Burma-Myanmar: Frequent clashes among Shan State Army-South (SSA-S) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) plague Shan State residents

Residents of Shan State’s Namtu Township have lamented the frequent fighting between the Shan State Army-South (SSA-S) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

The SSA-S, the armed wing of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), clashed with the TNLA on Sunday in an area between Pan Kwak Village and Pan Saw Village in Namtu.

India: 9 militants and 1 civilian gunned down killed in clashes in Kashmir

Five militants were today gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, while a civilian was killed and 10 others injured during clashes with law enforcement personnel after the gun battle, officials said.

Fresh exchange of firing between militants and security forces took place this morning at Kiloora in Shopian, where a militant was killed last night, they said.

Philippines: Clashes show New People’s Army (NPA) rejects localized peace talks

Clashes between government soldiers and communist rebels continued in the provinces of Batangas and Quezon amid a shift in counterinsurgency tactics by the Duterte administration to luring New People’s Army (NPA) units to what officials called “localized peace talks.”

Soldiers combed parts of Batangas and Quezon to hunt down NPA members operating in Southern Luzon and believed to be involved in a series of clashes with government troops.

Philippines: Army and suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels clash in Quezon province

Army soldiers and suspected New People’s Army rebels clashed in an encounter in Padre Burgos town in Quezon province Friday, police said.

Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, quoting spot report from local police station, said that a still unidentified rebel was killed in the encounter between troopers from the Army’s 85th Infantry Battalion and a band of communist guerillas in the mountainous area of Barangay (village) San Isidro around 5 p.m.

Afghanistan: Death toll rises to 23 in terror attack on Kabul airport, claimed by Islamic State (IS)

The death toll from a suicide attack near Kabul international airport has risen to 23, the health ministry said on Monday, with an AFP driver among the dead.

At least 107 others were wounded in on Saturday’s powerful explosion, which happened as scores of people were leaving the airport after welcoming home Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum from exile.
