Ukraine’s top commander has said Kyiv’s forces control 1,000 sq km of Russian territory as they press their biggest cross-border incursion in two-and-a-half years of full-scale war.
Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said Ukraine continued to “conduct an offensive operation in the Kursk region” seven days after it began.

Western powers have issued a joint statement Monday warning Iran and its allies to “refrain from attacks that would further escalate regional tensions” in the Middle East as they appear to soon be heading toward a breaking point.
Regional sources told Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst on Monday that they are concerned Iran and its proxies could attack Israel within the next 24 hours in retaliation for the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran late last month.

Russia launched dozens of missiles at cities across Ukraine on Monday in an attack that killed at least 31 people and smashed into a children’s hospital in Kyiv, officials said. The rare day-time Russian barrage came as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was due in Warsaw, the Polish government said, before he flies to a NATO summit in Washington.
Explosions rang out and black smoke could be seen rising from the centre of Kyiv, AFP journalists reported.

Six soldiers were killed in rural Colombia on Thursday after they entered a minefield during clashes with rebels, military officials told AFP.
The group “fell into an area prepared with explosives” while fighting with members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Central General Staff (EMC) in the northern province of Valdivia, according to the military.

Regular puffs of smoke from missile intercepts over northern Israel and fires from air strikes in southern Lebanon are outward signs of a fear that the Gaza war may be expanding into a wider conflict, which analysts say poses risks for both sides.
The stark threats on Wednesday from Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, that nowhere in Israel would be safe in the event of a war, and that even Cyprus and other parts of the Mediterranean would be in danger was the latest salvo in a rhetorical barrage from both sides.
