Russian shelling killed at least eight civilians in eastern Ukraine over the past 24 hours and wounded 25 more, Ukrainian officials said Wednesday. Pro-Russia separatists said attacks by Ukrainian forces killed four civilians.
The Ukrainian presidential office said Russian forces targeted cities and villages in the country’s southeast, with most civilian casualties occurring in Donetsk province, where Russia stepped up its offensive in recent days.

Eight resistance fighters were killed during a firefight with Myanmar junta soldiers in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, on Sunday, according to people’s defense forces (PDFs).
On Sunday morning, several PDFs attacked around 100 troops near Minywa village in the township.

Fighting raged Saturday for Ukraine’s strategic Lysychansk, as Kyiv denied a claim by Moscow-backed separatists that they had encircled the eastern city.
Clashes have been intense in Lysychansk, the last major city in the Luhansk region of the Donbas still in Ukrainian hands, located across the river from neighbouring Severodonetsk seized by Russia last week.

Although the Ethiopian federal government repeatedly stated its readiness to resolve the situation in the northern part of the country, the TPLF has continued belligerence and beating drums of war, state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) quoted Legesse Tulu, Ethiopian government spokesperson, as saying.
He said the rebel group is mobilizing the people of Tigray for another devastating war, and eventually disrupt the upcoming agricultural work that will ultimately cause another round of disaster to the East African country.

Nationalist monks have been forming militias in the resistance stronghold of Sagaing Region to counter people’s defense forces (PDFs) fighting Myanmar’s regime, according to residents.
Led by influential monk U Wasawa from the ultranationalist Association for Protection of Race and Religion (APRR), better known by its Burmese acronym Ma Ba Tha, monks have been rallying villagers to support military rule.
