Suspected rebels attacked a village in eastern Congo with machetes and guns, killing at least a dozen civilians, Congo’s army and a survivor said Monday.
Fighters believed to be part of the Allied Democratic Forces rebel group staged the attack Sunday night in Masambo, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) away from the city of Beni, army spokesman Capt. Anthony Mwalushayi told The Associated Press.

The spokesman for Yemen’s Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, says “according to what was agreed upon with the national delegation in Muscat, we announce the implementation into force of the humanitarian and military truce and our commitment to a comprehensive cessation of military operations as long as the other party adheres to it.”
Saudi Arabia also declared it’s a commitment to the ceasefire despite reports emerging that Saudi forces launched an artillery attack on the Yemeni border region of Sa’ada killing three civilians.

Ukraine pushed back Russian forces around Kyiv on Friday (Apr 1), retaking control of some areas near the capital amid fierce battles, Ukrainian officials said.
Russia said during negotiations on Tuesday that it would scale down operations in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, both of which are in northern Ukraine, but officials in both regions say fighting has continued in some areas.

A government soldier, his wife and an independence fighter were killed in two separate attacks in Indonesia’s restive Papua province, security officers and a rebel spokesperson said Thursday.
Clashes have escalated in eastern Indonesia’s Papua province since last year, when rebels set fire to several schools and killed two teachers in a village in Puncak district.

Myanmar’s junta has suffered heavy casualties in Mindat Township, Chin State, since March 26, according to the Chinland Defense Force (CDF).
CDF fighters have repeatedly ambushed a junta convoy advancing to Matupi through Mindat since March 26. Around 20 junta soldiers are believed to have been killed and many more injured in ambushes, according to Salai Ha Eun Man, a CDF spokesman.
