Burma-Myanmar: Military junta confirms temporary ceasefire with rebels

Myanmar’s ruling military confirmed on Friday that it had agreed to a “temporary ceasefire” with an alliance of ethnic minority armies at a China-mediated meeting.

“We have plans to further discuss and strengthen the ceasefire agreement,” junta spokesperson Zaw Min Tun told reporters.

Sudan: Sudanese joint forces repel fresh Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attack on Dilling town in South Kordofan

A combined force of the Sudanese army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), under the leadership of Abdelaziz al-Hilu, thwarted an offensive launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the city of Dilling in South Kordofan.

According to a military source in the second town of South Kordofan, “The army and SPLA-N forces repelled the third attack in four days on Dilling carried out by the RSF and their allied militias.”

Lebanon: Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel in response to killing of top Hamas leader

Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel on Saturday, warning that the barrage was its initial response to the targeted killing, presumably by Israel, of a top Hamas leader in Lebanon’s capital earlier this week.

The rocket attack came a day after Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said his group must retaliate for the killing of Saleh Arouri, the deputy political leader of the militia’s ally Hamas, in a Hezbollah stronghold south of Beirut.

Iran: Islamic State (ISIS) claims responsibility for deadly Iran bombing

ISIS has claimed responsibility for a deadly Iran bombing that killed more than 80 people and wounded scores more.

ISIS, seen as a terrorist group by most of the world, said in a widely circulated statement that suicide bombers detonated explosive belts in the middle of the crowd that had gathered in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman.

Iran: Blasts killed 200 as Iran marked three years since Soleimani killing

At least 200 Iranians were killed and scores of others were wounded on Wednesday in two reported explosions at a commemoration ceremony for slain Quds Force Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani in the city of Kerman, some 600 miles southeast of Tehran, emergency services said.

Local media cited officials as claiming the blasts were the result of “terrorist attacks.” Several gas canisters exploded at the entrance to the cemetery, according to Nournews, a news outlet with close ties to the regime.
